I do not accept your ads popping up on my computer OS desktop. We live in a world where advertisement networks rule the attention of users, and if given a free rein, they would put ads everywhere, like in this case forced on the users desktop.

I have strongly been under the impression that computer mice are "dumb-tech": a generic Microsoft implemented USB serial communication driver handles the mouse. Me buying your mouse is not a display of such trust. We live in a world where every single source of software is a potential security issue, and should require an explicit opt-in of trust. I do not accept the background network communication that you perform. I do not trust your code for the possible security issues that it poses. It is _not_ _ok_ to force download and execute code from the network on any user's computer behind their backs, especially to implement these kind of marketing popups uninvited. In case someone at SteelSeries or some other company marketing department lives in a some kind of bubble word, It should be stated out aloud: I don't think I can overstate the violation here. I bought a SteelSeries mouse some four-five few years ago, since, well, I needed a mouse and it happened to fit my hand well when trying it out in the store.
